As a composer, Hasse was the uncontested idol of the late baroque era. Today he is known primarily as an opera composer, but composed many excellent sacred works. The CD of his Requiem (CARUS83175), won several prestigious awards.
“Rademann`s excellent performance perfectly captures Hasse`s attractive juxtaposition of solemn grandeur and graceful beauty...The Dresden Chamber Choir sings with an ideally rich balance between parts, impeccable tuning and satisfying phrasing of lines. The soloists shine in passages that typify the 64-year-old Hasse`s mastery of early classical style...Outstanding stuff.” GRAMOPHONE
