Jan Welmers, still a quiet tip in many quarters of the organ world, has written several compositions for the organ in the style of minimal music that now appear on CD for the first time in proper connection to each other. Through his incorporation of other twentieth century compositional techniques as well, Welmers arrives at more colourful sound worlds than those of the best known representatives of this stylistic direction. The Goll organ of St Martin's Church in Memmingen, with its pronounced elegance of sound, is sure to impress listeners with breathtaking dynamic processes and richness of nuance under the hands and feet of Markus Goecke.
