This is the first volume in a new series of recordings of the complete works of Schütz and features one of his most important works. The 29 motets for five to seven voices were presented as models for composition without basso continuo.
“The Dresden Choir performs many motets a cappella and do it very well with 20 clean, fresh and lively voices.” BBC MUSIC MAGAZINE
“The balance within voices and with the instruments is beautifully managed, and the conviction of the performances is both subtle and palpable. Schütz's musical language here is refined, sparing and understated: qualities that can be applied just as well to Rademann's splendid performances.” INT. RECORD REVIEW
