The first releases of a new series. William Friedemann Bach was Director of Music in Halle from 1746-1764 and was required to perform a cantata every third week and on all feast days. The cantatas and Mass compositions performed here for the first time are works from this era and are outstanding contributions to the genre of the church cantata. The eight singers of the Ratstatter Hofkapelle perform both the choral and solo passages.
“an important release, offering previously unheard music of the highest quality and in performances which positively set the music alight.” INT. RECORD REVIEW
