Produktbeskrivelse

Leo Fall’s operetta Madame Pompadour is distinguished by charming and peppy music and
regarded as this composer’s wittiest and most outstanding work of this genre. And so we are happy to be able to present this CD production by the Vienna Volksoper with the opera star
Annette Dasch in the title role and a fine supporting cast. It was Nikolaus Harnoncourt who
discovered Annette Dasch, and she performed under this great conductor in Mozart’s Lucio Silla
at the Theater an der Wien in 2005. Ever since she has enjoyed a fantastic career. Since 2008 she
has moderated her own TV talk show, Annettes DaschSalon, and a few years ago she reached the
top of the operatic Mount Olympus when she debuted as Elsa in Lohengrin in Bayreuth. The action in Leo Fall’s bold Berlin operetta focuses on the historical Marquise de Pompadour, the mistress of the French King Louis XV. The operetta’s bold, satirical elements and numbers of hit quality such as »Heut könnt’ einer sein Glück bei mir machen,« »Mein Prinzesschen du, ich weiß ein verschwiegenes Gässchen, « and »Joseph, ach Joseph, was bist du so keusch« made the work a huge success.

“an immensely enjoyable version of what is often described as the composer’s best work...The only name familiar to me was that of Heinz Zednik...All the rest, including the two main characters, also sing with obvious understanding of the nature of the work and I never found myself regretting the lack of voices with more obvious star quality.” Music Web
