Stefan Pelzl is a jazz musician, his main instrument is the saxophone. He is also a composer and composed most of his jazz repertoires himself. As a child, he was very familiar with classical music, so for CHAM CHAMEII he composed music for strings.

Stefan Pelzl was inspired by jazz and his african roots as well as by minimal music. But also Monteverdi, Bach, Schubert, Bartok, Debussy, Ravel or Satie influenced him, as well as folk music from different continents.

Cham Chameii is the name of a lovely, little girl whom Stefan Pelzl and his wife Lisbeth met during their stay in Southwestern Uganda and was the inspiration for this composition for strings and orchestra.
