Little is known about the franco-flemish composer Matthæus Pipelare (around 1450 – 1515). However, he is honored in the 16th century, long after his death, as an outstanding composer. In fact, his few conserved works are characterized by an extraordinary quality. The ensemble The Sound and the Fury introduces, for the first time, four of his masses.
