The album Earth Walker brings oboist Marion Walker together with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Eivind Gullberg Jensen in a striking new recording that highlights some of the most distinctive voices in Nordic contemporary music. the album presents a powerful and atmospheric program centered around Jan Erik Mikalsen’s monumental work Bois, alongside music by Lars‑Erik Larsson and Nils Henrik Asheim.

At the core of the recording is Mikalsen’s Bois, a 30‑minute triptych that unfolds in three movements—Rituel du Bois, Chanson du Soleil, and Rituel de la Danse. Written with a vivid sense of color and ritualistic energy, the work places the oboe in a dynamic dialogue with the orchestra, and Walker’s performance brings both intensity and lyricism to Mikalsen’s sound world.

The album also features Larsson’s Aubade, Op. 63, a two‑movement work that contrasts a meditative Lento with a bright and agile Allegro. Walker appears alongside Sara Övinge, Anders Rensvik, and Kari Ravnan in a chamber‑like setting that highlights the clarity and warmth of her playing. The program concludes with Nils Henrik Asheim’s Medusa, a work of striking atmosphere and textural imagination, performed by the same ensemble of distinguished musicians.
