At twenty-five Alessandro Scarlatti was already a successful and much-sought-after opera composer, but he was no match for the son who was born to him in 1685, namely Domenico. Since Alessandro’s brother Francesco was also a composer with a mind of his own, we thus have all the makings for a gripping family saga. This re-release presents a fine documentation of the stylistic wars waged by the three Scarlattis, brilliantly performed by Musica Alta Ripa and Kai Wessel.
