Braaten, Tone Elisabeth1

The pieces on Ørenslyd were composed in 2019 as part of a cooperation with the Humboldt University in Berlin, where they were first performed on 26 October 2019. All the works are written for and performed by Tone Elisabeth Braaten, soprano, Ebba Rydh, mezzo-soprano, Per Kristian Amundrød, tenor, and Håkon Thelin, double bass. Their ability for nuanced vocal and instrumental articulation forms the very basis for the sounding result of the four compositions.

Buene, Eivind11

Personal Best by Eivind Buene - Trio Accanto / Buene, Eivind (voice)

With Personal Best, Norwegian composer Eivind Buene presents a new work written for Trio Accanto that blurs the boundaries between composition, performance, and reflection. The title suggests competition and measurement, but Personal Best turns the idea inward. Rather than striving for virtuosity in the conventional sense, the work investigates what it means to perform at one’s limits—artistically, physically, and mentally. The instrumental writing moves between sharply etched gestures and moments of suspended clarity, creating a constantly shifting terrain in which sound, text, and presence interact. The result is a work that feels at once rigorously constructed and strikingly immediate.

Almost Classic - POiNG

My Microtonal Piano - Yoshida, Sanae (piano)

With this album, Sanae Yoshida presents five new solo works for the microtonal piano by composers Eivind Buene (N), Keiko Harada (J), Øyvind Mæland (N), Michelle Agnes Magalhaes (BR) and Andreas Gundersen (N). As a musical instrument the piano is, both literally and figuratively, black and white. A paradigm of discipline and order, carefully tuned such that all intervals between the notes are the same, and that all keys, major and minor, sound with an absolute maximum of consistent, consonant clarity.

Altera Luce - Currentes / Gundersen, Jostein (kunstnerisk leder)

Eivind Buene: Into the Void - Det Norske Blåseensemble / POING

«Into the Void» was written for The Norwegian Wind Ensemble and POING by composer Eivind Buene. The title suggests a space that emerges where the notes and text end and the interaction between the musicians continues.
