Han var en av de få utvalgte norske musikere som både var solist og gjorde innspillinger med English Chamber Orchestra og London Philharmonic Orchestra. With this release, LAWO Classics wishes to celebrate Brynjar Hoff’s 70 years as a musician. Hoff is a legend in Norwegian musical life. For years he was one of the country’s most active classical artists as a television and concert performer in Norway and abroad. He was also one of the few Norwegian musicians to both perform as soloist and record with the English Chamber Orchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra. 

 

 

Acclaimed composer Martin Romberg presents ArtsandSigns, a striking new piano album performed by Alexandra Silocea. This release explores the deep connection between music, symbolism, and visual art, offering an immersive and ethereal listening experience. 

The foundation of Harpreet’s compositions is decades of schooling and training within the Indian raga tradition, with its scales and frameworks, from which she ventures in various directions. The music is North Indian Classical but draws on various folk music styles, contemporary classical music, Bollywood and much else besides and between. The result is an album characterised by its mix of sounds, unpredictable structures and seamless transitions within and between each track. Together, these three songs provide a very special soundscape where some listeners will experience the discovery of new territory, while others will feel something close to a homecoming.

Edvard Fliflet Bræin: Chamber Works is a richly curated recording that brings to light the rarely heard chamber music of one of Norway’s most versatile 20th-century composers. Best known for his orchestral works and opera Anne Pedersdotter, Edvard Fliflet Bræin (1924–1976) reveals a different, more intimate musical voice in this collection of chamber pieces, interpreted by a remarkable ensemble of Norwegian performers. 

“BACH – The Schnitger Organ of St. Ludgeri in Norden”, a monumental new release from one of Norway’s most celebrated organists, Kåre Nordstoga. In Richard Strauss’s early Cello Sonata Op. 6, we hear flickers of his distinct musical personality sprouting amid cracks in a traditional Germanic facade. Not many works from Richard Strauss’s teenage years still get performed, but this one has become part of the repertoire. Piano and cello are woven tight here, in this case moving from the lyrical verve and heavy Brahmsian chords of the opening to a four-part fugue. Mendelssohn’s easy lyricism can be heard in the Romance-like Larghetto while the same composer’s elfin lightness peers through Strauss’s final Allegro vivo.

Dette banebrytende albumet hyller kvinnelige komponister gjennom tidene og fremhever deres betydelige bidrag til den klassiske musikkverdenen. 

NoXaS har valgt ut tre verk som viser kvartetten fra veldig ulike sider. Ørjan Matres mesterlige instrumentering i verket «Six Orphic Amulets» viser saxofonens fleksibilitet. Ofte lager de fire instrumentene et bakteppe for sangerne, eller de tvinnes inn i det vokale slik at skille mellom sang og saxofon viskes ut. I Jon Øivind Ness’ «WRÆÞÞ» demonstrerer komponisten saxofonens mulighet til å spille mikrotonale linjer i et ellers humørfylt verk. Blandingen av humor og høy kompleksitet er et varemerke for Ness, og det gjelder også for dette verket. Karen Rehnqvists verk «Ock av Törnen» har et nesten tidløst uttrykt med store dynamiske spenn i register og dynamikk. Uttrykket er hudløst, ekte og dramatisk. Matre og Ness er komponert spesielt for utøverne på innspillingen.
