These works were commissioned for Holy Week at the court chapel in Dresden. Zelenka wrote six Lamentaciones Jeremia Prophetae and just the first one is included here, as well as the 27 Responsoria pro hebdomada sancta. Collegium 1704 & Collegium Vocale 1704 under the direction of Luks, Vaclav have produced two extensive CDs including the first complete recording of the nine nocturnes of Holy Week, conjuring up celebrations in Dresden in the 1720s.
