The premiere of this Yiddish operetta became a sensational success at the Cologne Opera in June 2021. For the piece, director and author Christian von Götz had musically collaged numbers from the golden era of the New York Yiddish Operetta between 1900 and 1920 (by Abraham Goldfaden, David Meyerowitz, Alexander Olshanetsky, among others), rewritten them with Yiddish lyrics, and placed them in a new, original play context. The Yiddish songs from this spirited, dance-like and genre-breaking spectacle are now available as a premiere recording on ARS PRODUKTION.
